Ideas for clever, cute or stylish wedding card boxes go beyond traditional wishing wells and mailboxes. Wedding card boxes can match the theme of your wedding or be something out of the ordinary.
Five Creative Wedding Card Boxes
Wedding card boxes can range from simple to elaborate. Consider the following five ideas for your wedding card box:
Spray paint the hat boxes with white paint and allow to dry.
Stack the boxes with the largest on the bottom and smallest on top.
Secure the boxes to each other using hot glue. Glue the bottoms of the smaller boxes to the lids of the larger boxes. Make sure you can open the lid so you can complete step 4.
Cut a slit into the top box that is large enough for greeting cards and slits on the bottom for the cards to fall through to the next level. Repeat with the middle box and finish by cutting a slit into the top of the larger box. It's easy to do this if you take the lids off the boxes and cut through both the lid and the box bottoms at once.
Now glue the lids onto the hat boxes, so the card box cannot be opened until after the wedding.
Decorate the boxes to resemble a wedding cake.
For the look of a tiered wedding cake, add ribbon around the bottom of each box and add embellishments such as glitter and flowers to each layer.
Add a cake topper and place a cake knife and server near the box to add a special touch.

Instructions
Wrap all boxes in decorative gift wrap.
Cut a slit on the lid of the smallest box making sure the slit is large enough for a card envelope to fit through.
Make slits in the bottom of the smallest box, lid of the medium box, bottom of the medium box, and on the lid of the largest box. This will ensure that the cards will fall through each box into the largest box.
Attach boxes to each other using the hot glue and glue gun. Make sure you line up the slits so the cards fall easily through the larger box when completed.
Add decorative ribbon to the stack of boxes.
Hot Air Balloon Box
Supplies
Wicker basket
Colorful rubbion
Helium balloon in the color of your choice
White netting
Faux florals and wire
Instructions
Cover the helium balloon with the netting. Cut some of the criss-crosses out so you have just a few long strings left to tie to the wicker basket. Tie ends to the basket to hold balloon down.
Add some faux florals to the netting using wire, being careful not to poke the balloon and pop it.
Tie a colorful ribbon around the wicker basket and at the top of the balloon.
Photo Card Box
Supplies
4 picture frames, 8x10 or 11x13 in size
4 pictures of the bride and groom
Foam Core board, cut into the size of the frames when they form a square
16 corner brackets
Fabric for box top
Velcro
Glue
Staples

Instructions
Put the frames together using the brackets to form a box. You will need to drill holes into each frame so that the brackets can be attached. You may need to remove the glass before drilling.
Add photos to the frames.
Cut the foam board to fit the top of your box and bottom.
Cut a slit in one of the pieces of foam board to allow cards to fit through.
Cover the foam board pieces with fabric and attach using a stapler or glue.
Assemble bottom of the box using staples to affix it to the bottom of the frames.
Add Velcro to the top of the frames on the "box" and the foam board that will be used as a top.
Velcro holds the top on so it doesn't fall off and can be removed as needed.
Place the box on the Lazy Susan so that it can be spun around to view the photos.
Decorate the house in wedding colors or with the candy and icing included in the kit. Take care to leave the area around the slit clear, so frosting and candies do not get onto the cards as they are pushed through the hole.
Write the couple's name on the house using icing.
Place a bride and groom figurine outside of the house.
Cut a slit into the roof of the house to allow for cards to fit through.
If the gingerbread house isn't big enough for multiple cards, leave the bottom open and attach it to a larger box with a hole in the lid that is wrapped decoratively so cards can drop through the house into the larger box.
Functional and Festive Card Boxes
A gift box is not only functional but can add a special touch to your wedding décor. You may want to place a small sign that says to place cards into the box so that there is no confusion at the reception.
